How it works - Food for Homes
Urban Harvest is closing down Urban Harvest's home delivery business at Easter 2017. Our last delivery to homes will be on Monday 10 April 2017.
Urban Harvest will still continue to supply fruit, catering & corporate gift hampers to workplaces post Easter 2017.
If you're interested in receiving just fruit and milk deliveries to home, we will still be able to help with this after Easter. Just hop online to order as usual.
Urban Harvest is like an online farmers' market.
We source the freshest, tastiest, local food direct from growers & artisan foodmakers and deliver it to your door - at home, at work or for friends. Or you can pick up from our Mt Victoria factory.
We can deliver fresh or frozen goods only within the Wellington region. But we can send dry goods all over the country.
To start shopping simply register or log in, hover over the category "Food for Home" and then click on a food category (e.g. vegetables or meat). Click on a product, enter the quantity you want to buy and add it to your cart. Simple!

You can filter a food category by supplier or type using the drop down list to the right of the page. Or to search for a product, simply click on the search icon on the top right of each page, enter a keyword and then press enter.
To view your shopping cart at any stage, click on the word "cart" at the top of your page.
If you would like to set up a weekly or fortnightly standing order, we can do this "off-line" for you. Email us on email@example.com to arrange this or for more information.
Recurring orders & order deadlines
We deliver food to homes (and have food available for pick up) on Mondays only. You must order food for Monday home delivery or pick up by midnight of the preceding Thursday. If the Monday is a public holiday, we will deliver on Tuesday (or your food will be available for pick up on Tuesday) instead although the same order deadline applies.
We deliver food for work and food for friends (food gifts) any weekday. You must order by midday on the working day prior to your preferred delivery day.
You can select your preferred delivery day on the check out screen. Just click on the empty field beside the words "pick a delivery date" to enter your preferred delivery day.
To set up a "subscription" or recurring order, simply add items you want regularly to your bag and during the check out process select "subscribe" instead of "one off order" and the frequency you want the order delivered. Then complete the check out process. You can choose to have your order delivered weekly or every 2 or more weeks (or monthly). You can also set up additional recurring orders to be delivered at different frequencies if, for example, you want fish delivered only every second week. Regardless of the day your subscription is placed for home delivery and provided it is placed by midnight Thursday, your order will be delivered (or ready for pick up) on the upcoming Monday.
Your credit or debit card will be debited each time your recurring order is scheduled for delivery. If a product on your recurring order is not available or the price changes, you'll be alerted the preceding Wednesday by email and will have a chance to change the order. You can even skip or cancel a recurring order at any time up to midnight on Thursday before your Monday delivery. All orders will be delivered (or available for pick up) each Monday.
We deliver Food for Homes to homes in Wellington City and the lower North Island (as far north as Palmerston North and Masterton). We cannot deliver food to rural addresses.
We use Fastways Couriers for all deliveries other than those in the Wellington CBD which we deliver ourselves. If your order is sent with Fastways, we will email you a tracking number for you to track and trace your order as soon as it is shipped. Your order will be delivered between 2-5pm if sent with Fastways.
Orders are delivered in banana boxes with chiller boxes/ice packs to keep your product cool. We use banana boxes because they are sturdy and provide good protection for your food in transit. Plus we like recycling. If you will not be home to receive delivery, please indicate in your delivery instructions where you would like your groceries left. We suggest a discrete, shady place away from pets.
Please recycle the banana boxes (often local schools & kindergartens are grateful for them) or return them to us. And get in touch once you have accumulated a few ice packs or red chiller boxes and we will organise to pick these up or send you a courier ticket to return them to us.
For delivery to Wellington City, Porirua City, Lower or Upper Hutt, the delivery fee is $8.50.
For delivery to the Wairarapa or Manawatu-Wanganui, the delivery fee is $12.
For delivery to the rest of the North Island, the delivery fee is $16.
We may need to charge a higher fee for larger orders (more than 15kg worth of food) but will contact you prior to shipping if this is the case.
There are no delivery fees if you opt to pick up your order from our factory at 29 Hania St, Mt Victoria. You can pick up your order anytime from midday-5pm. Email us on firstname.lastname@example.org if you would like to arrange a later delivery or note it in your delivery instructions and we'll get in touch to arrange.
